When is class?
Classes are weekly at your child's school with the exception of ISD closings, and run September-May. Click here for a specific school's dance day.
How long are classes?
Classes are 45 minutes with 7-12 dancers, classes with fewer than 7 students will be 30 minutes.
What age does my dancer need to be?
Dancer's can start our program as early as 18 Months! We have the unique advantage of picking up our students from class, NOT their parents. This eliminates separation anxiety, and our dancers are always excited to come to class! Classes go up to Pre-K, or if your facility offers it, Private Kinder. (Pioneer TAA K-6th)
What does my dancer need to wear?
The enrollment fee includes a $15 credit to our boutique! In order to take advantage of class time, dancers will not change before or after class. Please wear your Dance Techniques merchandise with comfortable bottoms to school each dance day, even if your school requires uniforms. This has been pre-approved by your dancer's school. Leggings seem to be the most popular choice! Absolutely NO Tights or Leotards. Whether currently potty training, or freshly independent, they make the restroom a challenge for teachers and students. Wearing your Dance Techniques attire each week helps their class teachers to have them use the restroom before dance, keep track of children in extracurriculars, and ensures a lot of cute matching pictures!
What shoes does my dancer need?
We will be learning Tap & Ballet technique each week, and shoes make class SO much fun! Your dancer will need pink leather ballet shoes and black tap shoes. I always suggest at LEAST a 1/2 size larger, so there is plenty of room to grow before May's Recital! PLEASE label them with first and last name. We even have them available in our boutique!
How do I know what my dancer is learning?
We have a very interactive communications app! We post pictures and/or videos weekly, plus you will receive newsletters with general information, steps we are working on, and videos showing proper techniques. You can also contact your teacher directly from the app, as well as pay tuition! In May we will put on a big Recital where your dancer will wear their performance costume, take group and individual portraits with Shine School Portraits, and perform a dance! This is always the highlight of our year, and they are so excited for you to watch them shine on stage!
